Modi government has recently issued a notification regarding the CAA ( Citizenship Amendment Act). With this notification, it is come to know that refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan will get citizenship by using the CAA Online Portal. PM Narendra Modi and party ministers have suggested this idea for a long time. Now, the CAA notification has been issued finally, and a separate online portal will be set up. Through the CAA Online portal, applicants can easily apply for citizenship online. As per media reports, the portal for citizenship registration will be launched soon in March. A separate CAA Online Portal

Recently, the CAA Online portal notification has been issued by the Modi government. They soon launched a separate CAA Portal online and allowed candidates to apply for their citizenship. The central government makes plans to prepare a separate CAA online portal. This portal allows refugees to apply for their Indian citizenship online and fill out their applications. Till now, there is no official date confirmed when the CAA online portal will launched, but it is expected that the web portal will launched instantly after CAA implementation. As per the notification, the work on the CAA portal has been continuing for a long time, and they soon launched the portal after government approval.

What is CAA Law

The rules related to CAA implementation 2019 were notified on 11 March 2024. It makes way to grant Indian citizenship to refugees who are from Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. After the CAA rules release, PM Modi government starts giving the Indian citizenship to non Muslims immigrants, who come to India by 31 December, 2014 without their documents. Non Muslims immigrants who live in India as refugees are Sikhs, Hindus, Jains, parsis, Christians and Buddhists.

The CAA law was passed in parliament in 2019 and later it get president approval, but then protests are start against it in many areas of country. So, this law was unable to implement that time, but now way are cleared. Government is set to launched the CAA Online portal under CAA law, and give the Indian citizenship to non Muslims immigrants.

Who will get citizenship on the CAA Online portal?

From the notification, it is come to know that non muslims immigrants, include jains, hindus, Sikhs, parsis, Christians, Buddhists, can get citizenship by CAA online portal. For this, the Home Ministry is waiting for extensions from the parliament committee and continuing towards the process of implementation of CAA rules. In the last 2 years, more than 30 home secretaries and district magistrates of 9 states were given permission to grant Indian citizenship to refugees who come from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

Under the citizenship amendment act of 1995, Indian citizenship are granted by registration to non Muslims minorities from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan in 9 states, named rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, uttar Pradesh, delhi, and Maharashtra.

When will the CAA Online portal be launched?

Currently, there is no confirmed news about the launched date of CAA Online portal. But it expected that CAA online portal will launched after CAA implementation in country. CAA implementation is expected to be done in March. So, it is expected that the portal will also launched in March. As per reports, the work on CAA portal are continued from long time, but they are waiting for government approval, and after they made CAA portal live for users.

Documents required to submit on the CAA Online portal

The refugees who want to apply for Indian citizenship at the CAA Online portal need the following documents. These documents are required during the citizenship application process.

  • Passports
  • Birth certificates
  • Land papers
  • School certificates
  • National identity cards
  • Voter cards
  • Residential permits from Bangladesh, Pakistan, or Afghanistan

The documents submitted by applicants are real and accurate. Any mistake in their documents leads to the rejection of their citizenship application. As per the notification, under CAA rules, applicants who want to apply for citizenship will need to submit two important documents. The Indian citizen has to testify about the character of the applicant through their affidavit.

Moreover, the applicant must have the knowledge of languages mentioned in the 8th schedule of the constitution. A applicant for Indian citizenship must meets the requirements for neutralization under third schedule provisions and submitted it in form 8A, that consists affidavit. The declaration by the applicants is also important that they know about languages mentioned in the 8th schedule of the constitution. As per the rules, the person who reads, speaks, or writes that language will have enough knowledge and be eligible to apply for Indian citizenship on the portal.
