Naval exercise Milan comes to a close aboard INS Vikrant in Vishakapatnam

Naval Exercise Milan sea phase is set to close abroad INS Vikrant on Tuesday, according to the Navy. Navy make the statement and said, the edition of MILAN shows the participation of 35 units that consist of aircraft, submarines and ships. 13 ships and 1 aircraft from foreign countries also participate in sea phase.

As per the statement made by the Navy, it was the first time that two naval aircraft carriers, Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant, took part in a Naval exercise together. All units also took part in it in domains of surface, air warfare and sub-surface. It consists of the Naval exercise against the asymmetric risks.

The major exercises in which INS Vikrant and Vikramaditya together are complex anti air shoots surface firings, warfare execises, advanced anti submarine with air defence exercises, Indian navy submarines against fighters, ship borne helicopters, and seamanship evolutions. All the 35 units of Milan Version arrived at Visakhapatnam, and commanding officers assembled for the closing ceremony of INS Vikrant.

35 Units together in the Sea phase

In the sea phase of Naval exercise Milan, all units took the series of advanced and complex exercises in domains of sub-surface, surface, and air warfare. They are together work against asymetric threats. The major exercises consists the complex anti air firings, surface firings, advanced anti submarine warfare exercises with air defence exercises, Indian Navy Submarines, ship borne helicopters, and seamanship evolutions, according to Navy statement.

Closing ceremony of INS Vikrant

Milan is considered as the multinational biennial naval exercise that was begin in 1995 with four countries participation, include Sri Lanka, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. The closing ceremony of INS Vikrant provides the platform for navy officers from different countries to be involved in debrief sessions, exchange views, foster interaction, and make mutual understanding.

This way, the navy officers of different nations can share their best practices and experiences. This ceremony includes debrief about the operations of Sea phase and make the units to participate in exchange views, and increase mutual understanding.

It shows the starting on 19 February with the collaboration of 50 nations. The 11th edition of this Naval exercise was held in 2022 earlier under eastern Naval command with Camaraderie cohesion collaboration. It flourished under the Andaman and Nicobar command aegis till the 10th edition, but with the stature of exercise and participation of several countries, Visakhapatnam was selected for further phases of naval exercises.
