The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has written to the Punjab government, requesting a detailed report on the IVF treatment undergone by Charan Kaur. The ministry cited Section 21(g)(i) of the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021, which stipulates that women seeking IVF services must fall within the age bracket of 21 to 50 years.

According to sources, Balkaur Singh is around 60 years old, while Charan Kaur is 58 years old, raising concerns about potential violations of the ART Act‘s age restrictions. The Centre has asked the state authorities to provide a report on the actions taken in this case, ensuring compliance with the relevant laws and regulations.

Moosewala’s Parents Likely Accessed IVF Services Abroad

According to government sources, Charan Kaur and Balkaur Singh likely accessed the IVF services abroad, as Indian law mandates that women accessing Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) facilities in the country must be between the ages of 21 and 50. Charan Kaur, being 58 years old, falls outside the prescribed age limit.

The Union Health Ministry has sent a letter to the Punjab Principal Secretary (Health), seeking clarification on whether Charan Kaur’s delivery was in compliance with Section 21-G of the Assisted Reproductive Technology Regulation Act, 2021. The state authorities have been asked to revert on the matter, ensuring adherence to Indian law.

Moosewala’s Family Alleges Harassment

In a video shared on social media, Balkaur Singh alleged that the district administration has been harassing him since the birth of his son, demanding documents to prove the child’s legitimacy. He appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, requesting time to complete his wife’s treatment before furnishing the necessary legal documents.

Balkaur Singh expressed his dismay at the government’s interference, stating, “What fear or compulsion is there that the government is interfering with the happiness of a newborn child?” He assured that he respects the law and will provide all necessary documents to clear his name, but warned of consequences if the harassment persists.
